Round up of last week's competitions

The ladies' section of Henley Golf Club held the annual running of the Jubilee Cup in conjunction with the July medal last week.

Janet Lawson was successful in the top division when she recorded a net 68 to win by three shots from Sally Woolven, Morag Morrison, Jocelyn Longworth and Muriel Quinsac. Maggi Buffin was close behind with a net 73.

Division 2 went to the sparkling net 65 provided by Jenny Stanier who beat ladies' vice captain Caroline Archibald by four shots. Lyn McAlpine was third with a net 71 which was two shots better than Rita Scott.

The winner of the Jubilee Cup came from Division 3 where Josie Heayns led a posse of good scoring. Her net 62 was good enough to take the Division and the trophy from the net 63 of ex-ladies' captain Anne Kennedy. Lynne Carter was third with another good score of net 64 from the net 66s of Pam Phillips and Alison Barber.

Katie O'Gorman and Andrea Smith are also worthy of a mention as they also managed to beat their handicaps.


Dianne Brown walked away with Division 4 with a net 67 which was five shots better than new member Miriam Dalton and Joan Fletcher. Sylvia Whitehurst was close behind with a net 73.

Peter Randall was successful in the Madger Trophy and Stanbrook Qualifier for seniors played at the club on Monday. He recorded 39 points to beat Richard Edwards, Ian Norris and Norman Simister by one point.
